HAVANA, Dec. 22, 2014 (TSR- Granma) As part of the 12th Session of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on economic-trade and scientific-technical collaboration, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of Cuba’s Council of Ministers, received Dmitry O. Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and president of the Russian commission.

The objective of the session is to advance tasks and objectives established during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Cuba in July, commented Cabrisas at the Council of Ministers headquarters. He highlighted that the aim of these conversations between the two delegations is to realize agreements in order to increase exchanges in diverse spheres. Rogozin expressed the Commission’s intention to create a strategic working group to address key areas of interest to both countries.

In addition, he invited a Cuban delegation to visit Moscow within six months, for a similar session and to visit Kazan province, one of Russia’s largest economic, industrial and business centers. Rogozin also placed a wreath at the Memorial to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier, located on the outskirts of Havana.

Both delegations, organized into working groups, examined areas of mutual interest in the spheres of economy, finance, energy, transportation, agriculture, communications, health, higher education, culture, iron, steel, tourism and customs.

Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia is a large delegation including secretaries of state, deputy ministers and other government officials in related areas, as well as a large number of representatives from the Russian business sector. The agreements realized as a result of the dialogues will facilitate the promotion and consolidation of bilateral cooperation and stimulate business between entities from both countries.

Raul receives Russian Deputy Prime Minister

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received on December 19, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Rogozin, during his official visit to Cuba on the occasion of the 12th Session of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission.

During the fraternal encounter the two leaders discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations between their two countries and the need to continue strengthening them, particularly in the sphere of economic trade. Similarly, they addressed issues related to the international agenda.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Mikhail L. Kamynin, Russian ambassador to Cuba; Dmitry Shugaev, deputy director general of the state entity “Rostekh”; and other Russian government officials. Participating on the Cuban side were Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of the Council of Ministers; Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; and Emilio Lozada García, Cuban ambassador to Russia.
