May 21, 2013 (TSR) – The General Command of the Syrian Arab Forces on Tuesday said that they destroyed an Israeli vehicle which entered from the occupied territories and crossed the cease-fire line early this morning towards the village of Bir Ajam, a Syrian territory.

“Our armed forces have destroyed an Israeli vehicle with everything that it had in it… The vehicle had crossed the ceasefire line and was moving towards the village of Bir Ajam, situated in the liberated Syrian zone” of the Golan, it said.

“Our noble armed forces destroyed an Israeli vehicle with everything that it had in it… The vehicle had crossed the ceasefire line and was moving towards the village of Bir Ajam, situated in the liberated Syrian zone of the Golan,” Syria’s military leadership said in a statement broadcast on state media said.

The incident occurred at 1:15 am (local time), it said.

“The village is located in the liberated area of Syrian territories where there are armed terrorist groups, ” the General Command said in a statement.

Israel said the vehicle was damaged but none of its troops were wounded, and Israeli soldiers returned fire.

“Following that, the Israeli enemy fired two rockets from the occupied site of Tal al-Faras toward one of our sites in al-Zubaydiah village; no casualties reported, ” the official Syrian statement said.

The destruction of the vehicle follows a series of reported Israeli attacks on Syrian soil, including air strikes on May 5 that hit three military sites outside Damascus, killing at least 42 people.

The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces said that the aggression aims at raising the terrorist groups’ collapsed moral due to the painful blows they received at the hands of our armed forces in more than one place, especially in al-Qsier area.

“The blatant aggression confirms again the involvement of the Zionist entity in the ongoing events in Syria and the direct coordination with the armed terrorist gangs,” he added.

The statement stressed that any breach or an attempt to violate the state sovereignty will be responded.

“Whoever thinks that he (Netanyahu) is able to test our strength, alert and readiness to maintain our dignity and sovereignty is mistaken,” the statement broadcasted on TV said.

A media source said that the seizure of an Israeli military vehicle which terrorists had been using in al-Qseir refutes the allegations made by Israel to justify its aggression on Syria and proves the scale of Israel’s military and intelligence involvements in the events in Syria.

The source said that the Israeli military support for the armed terrorist groups proves the involvement of Qatar, Turkey and Israel in the aggression on Syria which is waged through a single central operations room.

The source pointed out that the Israeli military support for terrorism in Syria proves once more that Israel was and still is adopting the policy of organized state terrorism, stressing that the world must act to confront this terrorism.

The source said that the questions raised by the seizure of the Israeli military vehicle and the surveillance and jamming equipment in al-Qseir show that the armed terrorist groups with all their different names are merely headlines for a single structure led by Israel, Qatar and Turkey.

Tension in the Golan Heights region has been fuelled by the fighting on the Syrian side and several recent abductions by rebel fighters of U.N. peacekeepers, who have monitored a narrow zone of separation between Syrian and Israeli troops since 1974.

The abductions have led the Philippines government to say it is considering withdrawing its troops from the UNDOF observer mission. Austria, the other main troop contributor, is concerned that French and British calls to drop an EU arms embargo on Syrian rebels would render its continued presence untenable.
