August 8, 2012 (TSR) – On Wednesday, following a recent attack that left 16 police and army men dead in Sinai, President Mohamed Mursi ordered a government reshuffle.
The newly-elected Islamist president decided to sack intelligence chief Mourad Mowafy, appointing Mohamed Refaat Abdel Wahed Shehata to replace him, Mursi’s spokesman Yasser Ali said.
Mursi also decided to sack governor of North Sinai Abdel Wahab Mabrouk and appoint Ahmed Zaki head of presidential security.
Egypt’s president also ordered interior minister Ahmed Gamal al-Deen to appoint Maged Mostafa Kamel Noah as his central security head and Osama al-Sughiar as his Cairo assistant.
Mursi also ordered Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, minister of defense, to appoint a new head of military police to replace general Hamdy Badeen.
