Iran said that the Canadian government’s decision to close its embassy in Tehran illustrates that it is pursuing the policies dictated by the Zionist regime and Britain, continuing the anti-racist policies of Stephen Harper and as US dictates. Iran is making plans to reciprocate.

September 8, 2012 (TSR) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday that the Canadian government’s decision to close its embassy in Tehran illustrates that it is pursuing the policies dictated by the Zionist regime and Britain.

Yesterday, Canadian foreign minister John Baird released a statement that the government is cutting ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran saying that “Canada views the government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today,” and accused Iran of showing blatant disregard for the safety of foreign diplomats.

Mehmanparast stated in Tehran Times, “The current Canadian government led by (Prime Minister) Mr. Stephen Harper is known for its extremist policies in the field of foreign policy. Various and hostile measures of this government against the Iranian nation and the Iranian community residing in Canada, such as the closure of the visa section of the Canadian Embassy in Tehran, the freeze on accounts of Iranians residing in the country, and the ban on the transfer of money to Iranian students in Canada, have been (in line with) those policies.

“The hostile actions of the current racist government in Canada are in fact (just) the pursuit of Zionist and British dictated policies. Along these lines, the Canadian government made extensive efforts to prevent the summit of the heads of state (and government) of the Non-Aligned (Movement) from being held in Tehran (on August 30 and 31), but they (the efforts) failed due to the rebuff from countries and international figures.
“The closure of the Canadian Embassy in Tehran by this government is regarded as a continuation of Harper’s anti-Iran policies and a hasty reaction to this government’s clear defeat due to the fact that the summit of the heads of state (and government) of the Non-Aligned (Movement) was successfully held in Tehran.”

Iran plans to deliver a firm response and reciprocal move to Canada

Meanwhile, spokesman for the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Hossein Naqavi Hosseini described as a “diplomatic suicide” the Canadian government’s unilateral move to close its embassy in Tehran, saying the move has no place in diplomatic conventions.

“This move by the Canadian government shows the Islamic Republic’s success in managing one of the most important international movements, namely holding the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran,” he said.

Following the Iranian nation’s great diplomatic victory to hold an important international meeting at the highest level, Canada showed the irrational reaction in line with the policies of the US and the Israeli regime, the lawmaker pointed out.

Iranian MP Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini also said on Saturday that Tehran should deliver a firm response to Canada’s decision to close its embassy in Tehran.
“The issue of the closure of the Canadian Embassy in Iran will be studied during (a meeting of) the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, which Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh, the deputy foreign minister for international affairs, and Ramin Mehmanparast, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, will attend,” Naqavi-Hosseini, who is the committee’s rapporteur, told the Mehr News Agency.
He added, “The fact that Canada decided to close its embassy in a hasty move should be discussed and investigated in a calm atmosphere, and the Islamic Republic should give a firm response to it.
Canada doing media propaganda and diversion

Mehmanparast also added that Canada, a close ally of the US, closed its embassy in Iran to divert attention away from the Islamic Republic’s success in holding the NAM summit in Tehran.

“The reasons cited by Canada are not worth paying attention to. If this country had (intended) to close its embassy due to its opposition to the role of the Islamic Republic in regard to the Syrian crisis, it should have closed the embassies of certain countries on its soil several months ago, including the countries that trained forces to kill the (Syrian) people and sent weapons to Syria.”

Larijani cancels trip to Canada: report
In addition, the Persian service of the Fars News Agency reported on Saturday that Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has cancelled the trip that he was scheduled to make to Quebec City in Canada to attend the 127th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union from October 21 to 26.
According to Reuters, during the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, in which 52 U.S. nationals were held hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981, the Canadian Embassy in Tehran sheltered six U.S. diplomats who had avoided capture and then helped them leave Iran with Canadian passports in January 1980. The Canadian Embassy then closed and reopened in 1988.
Canada responsible for safety of Iranian diplomats, Foreign Ministry says
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday saying that the Canadian government is responsible for the protection of Iranian diplomatic personnel in Canada.
The Foreign Ministry said Canada has a bad reputation for protecting diplomatic headquarters and personnel and has repeatedly failed to protect the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa against attacks.
The statement added that “the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran holds the Canadian government responsible for the safety of the embassy’s personnel and the protection of its diplomatic buildings in the country.”

Historic NAM Summit was a political tsunami against the US and its allies

An Iranian lawmaker says Iran’s successful hosting of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit was a political tsunami against the US and its allies.

“The Non-Aligned Movement summit in Iran and the consensus of 120 countries particularly on the final statement was as much a great success for our country as a political tsunami against the stances of the US, the Zionist regime (Israel) and some of their allies,” spokesman for the Majlis Presiding Board Abdolreza Mesri told ISNA on Saturday.

An Iranian deputy foreign minister said that 16th heads-of-state summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran was a historic event, given the number of the world officials who showed up in the gathering.

“The NAM foreign ministerial meeting was held at a higher level in comparison to the previous meetings of NAM. It was quite unprecedented in the history of NAM,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates’ Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said Friday.

A Briefing on NAM Summit’s success in Iran that makes USA and Israel seethe in anger
The Non-Aligned Movement, comprises of 120 member nations and 21 observer states, which consider themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.

NAM member states represent nearly two-thirds of the United Nations’ members, the largest grouping of countries, and comprise 55% of the world population, particularly countries considered to be developing or part of the Third World.

The 16th NAM summit held in Tehran from August 26 to 31 had a total of 138 countries which attended the summit.

More than 54 kings and presidents, 72 foreign ministers and a total of 143 speeches were delivered at the summit and its expert and ministerial meetings.

Some 51 countries sent their high-ranking leaders, while over 150 delegations from the world countries and bodies attended the other meetings of the bloc in Tehran.

During the 6 days of holding the conference, the Iranian officials held meetings with the heads of states and important leaders of different countries attending the conference on different regional and international issues as well as the bilateral relations.

The US Sanctions are worthless as Iran will further boost trades with NAM nations

Trade between Iran and other members of the Non-Aligned Movement accounts for 40 percent of Iran’s total trade turnover, said an official with the Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

Mohsen Bahrami told the ISNA news agency that boosting trade with NAM member states could remove many of Iran’s economic problems.

Iran-NAM trade amounted to around $43 billion in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 19.

Iran exported $19.7 billion non-oil goods to NAM member states, while imported $24.1 billion worth of goods last year.

Iraq, the UAE, India, and Afghanistan were the main importers of Iranian goods. The UAE, India, Malaysia, and Oman were the major exporters to Iran.

It should be noted that China, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Argentina, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Ukraine are among the observer members of NAM which also have trade ties with Iran.

Israel’s Propaganda against Iran is Exposed: Iran is NOT isolated at all

The 16th NAM Summit wrapped up with passing a final resolution, which included over 700 clauses and a blessing and support that the Islamic Republic of Iran can proceed with its peaceful nuclear energy program.

For the next three years, Iran holds the rotating chair of NAM.
