June 5, 2012 (TSR) – Whenever Bill Clinton appears on stage with President Barack Obama like the New York Fundraising in Waldorf Astoria on Monday, he sprinkles political stardust and always praising the “good job” on his Democratic successor was doing, endorsing his 2012 re-election campaign and then blasts challenger Mitt Romney for embracing the politics of “constant conflict.”

However, that seems to be the typical PR stunts American campaign strategists do to add clout to anyone running for president as according to claims in a new book, Clinton’s feelings towards Obama was revealed. Bill privately branded Obama as an “amateur” and urged his wife, current U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to challenge him for the presidency.

These private comments came in a new biography of Obama, The Amateur, written by Edward Klein, the former New York Times Magazine and Newsweek editor. Klein exposed a conversation that supposedly took place at Bill Clinton’s New York home last August during a gathering of long-time friends.

“Barack Obama is an amateur,” Clinton allegedly said to Hillary, according to the New York Post. “The economy’s a mess, it’s dead flat. America has lost its Triple-A rating… you know better than Obama does.”

The rant didn’t end there. Clinton reportedly said Obama “doesn’t know how to be president” and is “incompetent”, going on to add the pair had “no relationship”. Clinton even says he was consulted more by Obama’s predecessor George W Bush.

The comments, if true, reveal a marked difference between Clinton’s public support for the President and his private reservations. More damning, however, will be the suggestion that Clinton actively encouraged his wife, the Secretary of State, to quit her job and challenge Obama in the 2012 primaries.

“The country needs you!” Bill Clinton reportedly said, dismissing the suggestion that she was too old to run. “I’m the highest-ranking member in Obama’s Cabinet,” Hillary replied. “I eat breakfast with the guy every Thursday morning. What about loyalty, Bill? What about loyalty?” The former president supposedly responded: “Loyalty is a joke… Loyalty doesn’t exist in politics.”

Klein insists the conversation is factually sound, stating that he interviewed two guests present at the meeting. However, Bill Clinton’s spokesman has called the allegations “totally and completely false” and branded Klein a “known liar”. White House spokesman Eric Schultz has said “nobody in their right mind” would believe the accusations.

Whether the statements were true, one thing is definitely certain: Loyalty is a joke to those who are self-serving because at the end of the day, it is all about money and power.
